New to the contracting market

My name is Meg and I am a Senior Recruiter at TalentHawk. This is one of my first blogs so it would be great to hear your feedback if you are reading this!

I joined the team back in the summer after my last employer closed down during the pandemic, and although this was a sad and stressful time, I am so glad to have joined TalentHawk as there are so many incredible opportunities available to me now.  In particular recruiting in the contracts market.  A different mind set for sure.

I have recruited mostly permanent professioanls before Talenthawk, but over the last 5 months my horizons have widened and I am able to tap into a huge market of extremely talented IT professionals that I was unable to work with before. This was a huge selling point to me to join TalentHawk. 

Historically I have always seen December as a quiet month for recruitment, however with new contract vacancies being registered every day we are on target to have an exceptional December and New Year 2022.

In the permanent marketplace, people will often delay their decision making until the New Year and aren’t keen to make any life decisions before we all sit, reflect and make our New Years Resolutions, however these rules don’t apply to contract and in fact people are pushing to onboard before Christmas!

My vacancy list is running at about 50% contract and 50% permanent for the first time in my recruitment career and it is excellent to get the exposure to both markets so I can see the benefits to both.
